Hey, there, Mommylicious moms! In this post I would like to share with you top tricks and tips on how you can make workout work out for you. I will show you, how you can design it so that it has the effect you want it to have. And of course take in the consideration your busy schedule. Ready? After this, there are no excuses left!

No.1 Embrace your body, set your mind – your body cannot follow if your mind isn’t there yet!

So true! Your mind is No.1 key to success! Embrace where you are right now and how you look. Love that image. Then set your mind to where you want to be, how you want to look. Your body will follow.

This is your warming up before the start!

No.2 Don’t go from zero to hero! 

You are at the start line! You decided, you want to change, you want to shape up, get fit, get toned. That’s great! Perfect in fact! But the start is crucial.

Your start will decide whether you will run trough the finish line or stop somewhere in the middle and give up.

You see, you can’t be an iron lady over night, your body needs a gentle introduction into workout routine otherwise you will exhaust it, injure yourself and you may never want to start again! What a waste!

So, go slowly, and increase your intensity step by step.

No.3 Not a “To-do list” but Me-time list!

Schedule your time for workouts! But as I said, don’t put it on to-do list. This should be a fun time for you, if you follow my steps and not kick off with hour-long routines that will take away all the will you have!

If you are a routine kind of person, schedule it every day at the same time, if you’re bold, play with the hours, to see what time works best for you.

Just a little hint: working out boosts your metabolism, energy and with the right exercises, the body continues to burn calories up to three hours! So, it’s your decision what part of your day needs a booster!

No.4 Pick and mix! Cardio-power-endurance!

Each and every one of us has different body issues, or so-called “problem areas”. We have different body structures, metabolism, eating habits, sleeping habits and of course the age difference (after you reach the magical number 30, things change;). So, the same exercise might not have the same effect on all of us.

But if you are dedicated and true to yourself, the results will come.

The most important thing is to combine exercises! Don’t do the same exercises over and over again. Your body gets used to the same moves and there will not be any results!

If you mix different types of exercises, combine intensity and mix the cardio, power and endurance exercises then you’re going the right way towards finish line!

No.5 Do the workout routine outside!

This will change your walks in the park for sure! If you have kids along, they are the perfect excuse (if you need one) to get some exercises done!

Examples: if your child is drawing somewhere on the sidewalk, use the same sidewalk as a steper for some aerobic moves!

If you are on the playground with some bars to climb on – use it for your power biceps exercises!

If you have jump rope – do I need to say it, what a perfect overall workout it is?! I

f you are bold, put some leg weights straps on and go hiking on the nearest hill! That will burn your calories for the day!

Make it fun! Don’t just walk, run a bit, jump a bit, hop a bit. Outdoors exercises rock!

No.6 The more you workout the better things you’ll crave for

Something happens to our body and mind when we start to work out, be active in life.

You will start to notice the change in your behaviour, your mood. You will be less stressed, happier, energetic, positive, more patient (which is so important when having kids, right?!).

Your body will start to communicate with you again, and most important, you will hear it again!

So, your meals will be healthier, snacks will be eaten without guild and within limits, overeating is the past! It really is like a magic pill, but so much better!

  1. It is so much about your mind! I started running last year. And after the first few weeks I really loved it. Then I had a few weeks off, with holidays and illness. Then I went back to work after maternity leave and I was tired. Then the excuses started. Now it’s been 3 months and I can’t motivate myself to go out. Even though I know I’ll enjoy it again once I get back into the habit…but it’s cold!

    • I believe it’s all in our mind! Isn’t it funny, how we can make excuses not to do it when we can as easily make up reasons why we should do it?;) As I said, step by step, 10 min a day is better than nothing and those 10 min will turn into 20 and 30 and an hour..;) Thanks for reading!x
