Family Guide for Essential oils

Essential oils – who doesn’t know them. I like to call them “Magic in a bottle”. Because that is what they are. They can cure, they can relax, they can calm and their scent are amazing.

What exactly are essential oils?

They are miniature drops, hidden in the leaves or peel of fruits, wood, branches, flowers, roots and tree resins. They smell nice, evaporate fast, don’t burn and aren’t water-soluble, that is why we have to dilute them with creams or other oils.

How can we absorb essential oils?

  • by inhaling
  • breathing in
  • trough skin – massage, bathing

 How to use them:

We put a few drops in a bowl with hot water. We lean the head over the bowl and cover ourselves with a bigger towel and inhale for 5 minutes. This is the best way to prevent or cure colds, blocked sinuses or coughs.

  • WARM BATHS – it is important to mix the essential oils with body milk or bath soap, so they are not too strong, which could cause allergic reactions.
  • MASSAGES – mix a few drops of essential oil with massage oils – I would recommend organic coconut oil or almond oil, just because of their variety of use and benefits they have on your skin.

  • Do not overdose essential oil due to its high concentration of extracts!
  • It’s enough to add just a few drops!
  • Don’t use it around your eyes or other delicate body areas!
  • The bottles need to be closed and kept in a dark place with no light and away from children.

It’s now this time of year, when most of us catch a cold, we cough or have inflamed sinuses. For all of this illnesses, there is an essential oil that can make you better.

I would recommend using a diffuser for disinfecting the air in your house, preventing viruses to spread even more.

STEAM INHALATIONS are the most effective way to stop the cold and open sinuses and ease coughs for you and your family. For kids this may be uncomfortable at the beginning. Inhale with them under the towel for no longer than a minute. Repeat with 2 minute break in between. Repeat 10 times. If your child refuses to inhale, don’t force them, run a bath or a shower to steam up the bathroom and place bowl with hot water and essential oils in the center of the shower. Stay with them in the bathroom for 10 minutes.

Our daily routine sometimes leaves us stressed, nervous, restless. And we all know that with this state of mind, there’s no way we can go to sleep and dream a beautiful dream and rest till morning. We have to take a moment, time for us, time to relax.

I suggest you take a bath or just take a foot-bath or use a diffuser before sleep.

I suggest for this opportunity, you put essential oil on your scarf, put them on like a perfume (only a lot less!). This way, the scent will be with you all day long.
